Luth nouvelle - Michael Lowe (ex Anthony Rooley)

It is my pleasure that Anthony Rooley offered me his famous Michael Lowe lute. Ths instrument is featured on numerous recordings with Rooley´s ensemble Consort of Musicke as well as with singers such as Emma Kirkby or Evelyn Tubb. Made by famous british lutemaker Michael Lowe it is a rare doubleheaded dutch lute well known from dutch masters´ painting of 17th century. It is best suited for accompaniment of songs of H.Purcell, G.Finger and their contemporaries. Its tuning is also unique, there is only a handful of solo pieces written for it (especially Thomas Mace: The Musicke monument) that are currently being prepared for a solo CD recording and in concert programme Songs without words.
